City of Victoriaville
Cradle of sustainable development!
Considered the “capital” of the Bois-Francs region, Victoriaville is a modern city with
40,000 inhabitants. Victoriaville’s friendly, dynamic environment creates an appealing place to live in the heart of the magnificent Bois-Francs region.
Victoriaville is one of Quebec’s most advanced urban centres with its impressive rate of over 65% of residual materials diverted from landfill. Victoriaville’s commitment to recycling dates back to the early 1980s when it became known throughout Quebec for its efforts to promote recycling in the community. Moreover,
the first youth training and recycling centre (CFER) was set up in Victoriaville, and there are now 17 such centres across the province. About 60% of the residential waste collected from urban homes in the Bois-Francs is recycled, a level that exceeds the 50% objective set by the Quebec government for 2008. This is a clear demonstration of the efficiency of the regional system and the
commitment of the local population to sustainable development and environmental protection.
Industries
Victoriaville hosts a
number of manufacturing facilities in the furniture, cardboard, agri-food, metals, clothing and industrial machinery sectors. The food, hardware and other distribution sectors, along with specialized construction, transportation, consulting and other services are also well represented in the area.

The region has
two radio stations, one community television station and two
weekly newspapers. It has an extensive selection of hotels and a large
number of restaurants.

CLSC) and extended care centre complete the network, along with a number of senior citizens homes. Victoriaville has a court house, police force and fire department, in addition to a
comprehensive education system.
